The walk Darkness into light will take place in Brussels Parc Cinquantenaire on 12th May at 4.15am.\u00a0 The Brussels DIL Committee hope you will walk with us to raise awareness for\u00a0mental health<\/a>\u00a0and suicide.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Darkness Into Light<\/strong>\u00a0initiative began in 2009, when a bereaved couple in Dublin rose at 4h00 to walk from darkness into the dawn in memory of their son, who had been lost to suicide. The event has grown exponentially since then \u2013 from 400 people in Dublin\u2019s Phoenix Park to an event celebrated last year in over\u00a0145 towns and cities worldwide<\/a>, with 180,000 participants.\u00a0This year will be the first time the Darkness Into Light event is held in Belgium.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Commissioner Phil Hogan\u00a0<\/strong>is Patron of the Brussels event and he is supported by 14 other Commissioners, making this a truly European event.<\/p>\n

Registration for the first ever\u00a0<\/strong>5k walk\u00a0<\/strong>Darkness into Light<\/a>\u00a0 in order to raise awareness about mental health and suicide is now open.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

By signing up for DIL Brussels 2018 you are helping raise funds for\u00a0Pieta House Ireland<\/a>\u00a0and two associations here in Belgium,\u00a0Centrum ter preventie van zelfdoding<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Centre du pr\u00e9vention du suicide<\/a>, all dealing with mental health and suicide.<\/p>\n
