{"id":18869,"date":"2026-02-19T09:33:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T08:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bruxelles.unionsyndicale.eu\/?p=18869"},"modified":"2026-02-19T09:37:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T08:37:21","slug":"epso-failure-to-meet-response-deadlines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bruxelles.unionsyndicale.eu\/en\/epso-failure-to-meet-response-deadlines\/","title":{"rendered":"EPSO: Failure to Meet Response Deadlines"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_auto\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-2 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"w-separator size_large\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_col-sm-8 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column us_custom_432d3f53\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">In a recent interview with Commission en Direct, Mr. Olivier Salles, Director of EPSO, stated:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><i><span lang=\"EN-US\">&#8220;I want to improve the experience of candidates, as competitions often represent citizens&#8217; first contact with EU institutions.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">This is an objective that the<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong><em>Union Syndicale<\/em><\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>fully shares and supports with conviction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">While we extend our<span>\u00a0<\/span><span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"mark1mwzay7ha uM2yb\">congratulations<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span>on his appointment, we also offer Mr. Salles our best wishes for the challenges ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">However, we are all aware of EPSO\u2019s core issue: a glaring lack of resources. This prevents both EPSO staff and colleagues appointed to chair or serve on competition juries from meeting the expectations placed upon them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">One issue deserves particular attention from Commissioner Serafin, DG HR, as well as Mr. Salles and his team. It concerns a now well-established practice: the failure to meet deadlines for responding to &#8220;requests for review&#8221; submitted by candidates who were not admitted to the next stages of a competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Candidates who request a review of their test by the competition jury generally receive an acknowledgment of receipt and a communication informing them that, despite the delay, a response will be provided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">However, no one informs them when this will happen, leaving them in a difficult situation: How long should they wait for a response? At what point can they consider that their request for review will not be processed within a reasonable timeframe and, consequently, file an appeal based on Article 90.2?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">While we fully understand the workload faced by our colleagues, EPSO must find a way to ensure that responses are provided on time.
