🏥 Why the note ?
- Every year, Union Syndicale receives hundreds of individual requests for assistance, often when health issues are already complicating day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Since we began holding our helpdesk sessions on the first Wednesday of every month, these requests have increased even further, revealing recurring difficulties and new issues.
- Among these, many colleagues report growing difficulty simply asking the RCAM a question after a reimbursement claim has been denied.
⚠️ Conclusion
- The forms refer to a procedure that no longer exists (the “yellow bubble”)
- A series of minor obstacles that discourage people
from exercising their rights, especially those who are already vulnerable - Our position: Access to rights should not depend on how much energy one has when they are sick.
- The USB memo proposes concrete improvements, some of which can be implemented immediately and at no cost.
📌 NB
- This work is part of the Union Syndicale’s broader commitment to health issues: representation on the CPPT and CGAM, active involvement in the current social dialogue on medical leave (negotiations are underway—we’ll update you as soon as possible), ongoing initiatives regarding the reimbursement of annual medical checkups , a problem for many colleagues in Brussels, access to healthcare in certain countries, and more.
- Concrete results have recently been achieved by the Union Syndicale, particularly in Italy. Read here to learn more about EU staff’s healthcare rights in Italy – Union Syndicale
