Staff Committee elections for the Council : Union Syndicale presents a list of 30 candidates for the elections to the Staff Committee of the General Secretariat of the Council.
All the candidates are motivated and want to regain a majority on the Staff Committee in order to be able to implement their programme. The first point of the programme is to have an inclusive Staff Committee that truly represents all staff. Indeed, the electoral system at the Council most often gives an overwhelming majority to a single list and the other unions are then excluded from any useful participation. We want to put an end to this drift. The referendum organised in 2014 to introduce a proportional voting system was not counted on the pretext that the turnout was (slightly) below 50% and we have therefore decided to propose to all the unions represented on the Committee to participate fully and meaningfully in the work of the Committee and its Bureau.
In this way we want to put into practice our campaign slogan: YOU + ME = US. Only together can we effectively face the challenges that lie ahead.

The outgoing Staff Committee has shown that staff representation is most effective when elected representatives of the different unions work together, in the interest of all colleagues, whether unionised or not: the Committee’s contributions in areas such as vocational training, NWOW, harassment prevention, among others, have gained in clarity and quality. Union Syndicale wants
continue on this path and has, once again, opened its list to non-affiliated colleagues. The next step will be to review the electoral system. We invite all those who wish to do so to join the reflection. Together, we will be able to build a strong and balanced Committee, acting for the good of all colleagues.The Council section of Union Syndicale Brussels is headed by the seven members of the Executive Committee, elected directly by the Council’s members.
