Car Insurance

By “car insurance” we generally mean:

-compulsory insurance known as R.C. Auto (civil liability for motor vehicles);
-non-compulsory supplementary insurance, such as omnium and mini-omnium insurance, driver’s insurance, legal protection insurance and assistance insurance.

R.C. Auto covers the liability of vehicle drivers. This insurance is compulsory for all vehicle owners as soon as the vehicle is put on the road. When you are at fault in an accident, this insurance covers material damage and bodily injury to victims, but does not cover your own injuries or material damage to your vehicle. For this reason, R.C. Auto is often supplemented by other coverages, such as omnium and mini-omnium, which cover material damage to the insured vehicle.

Other complementary coverages are also available:

-legal protection, which covers legal costs and provides assistance and advice on legal matters;
-driver’s insurance, which covers bodily injury;
-assistance insurance, which helps the insured in the event of vehicle breakdown (breakdown assistance, towing, etc.).
